Creating Energetically Charged Fine Jewelry
Be Connected With the Energetic Properties of Stones
In New York Magazine's Wedding Index of Jewelers I am described as a jeweler that works with the energetic properties of stones. What does that mean?
Energetic Properties is also a term that applies to the design process and how I actually create fine jewelry pieces with my crew. I would describe myself as a modern day mystic who works and expresses herself through stones and metals. All the people I work with and pay are elements to the pure positive energy of the fine jewelry piece: sum of its parts.
The more I developed my skills in fine jewelry work and design, I became familiar with the names of great men, innovative and powerful jewelers like Louis-François Cartier, Peter Carl Fabergé, Harry Winston, Joel Arthur Rosenthal(JAR), René Lalique and Alfred Van Cleef. All men I respected as jewelers. Even my teacher, David Benlolo.
However, the names of women as actual jewelers is a rarity and the absence of great jewelers of color is apparent. I've been moved by the craftsmanship of these great men, yet I did not aspire to own their personal works. I did not covet a bejeweled animal or a bejeweled flower. So I wondered what was missing for me? When David would show me a gemstone and I fell in love with it, it would be somewhat on a soul level. I was fixated with the actual "stone" that transformed into the gem. So in 2014, I started taking classes on rocks from a great stone priestess to better learn the actual essence of rocks, stones and crystals and why humans desired them. Build an authentic connection with Nature.
After three years of intensive energy work to understand stones and crystals, I've been excited to combine both the natural and human elements to my commissioned works. I've been very privileged to always have attracted clients that were willing to explore a deeper connect to stones. Typically when you show up to the atelier, I present several different stones before you and observe what you gravitate to. I never want my clients to feel like precious stones are untouchable. There is a beautiful moment when you have a pure, raw stone, or a faceted gemstone, in the palm of your hand: a romance that then informs the creation. I've seen that moment so many times and it connects to the actual essence of my purpose as a jeweler. I personally have those moments every week! See my Instagram.
So as the month of April ends, I would like to set the right intention going forward. The brand is growing and evolving. We will be finishing the atelier, we will have a new hallmark, new symbols and packaging. New imagery. New social media...
The brand will be sharing more commissioned pieces as I evolve into a more focused period of my craftsmanship. As a highly intuitive woman and artist, my idea of fine jewelry starts with the actual stone and it's elements and powers. I will strive to find the most complex and sophisticated stones to work with so as they adorn the body they also create a very special connection with the wearer. A new definition of Fine Luxury: the luxury of pure nature.
